Nitrox has become the gas of choice for recreational diving the world over. Initially only available from land based gas mixing facilities, nitrox can now be generated from on-board systems for safer, healthier diving at any location.
With a Brownie’s NitroxMaker™, you simply dial-in your preferred mixture from 21% to 40% oxygen. The system automatically produces the desired gas and monitors the oxygen content with integrated digital oxygen analyzers. The produced gas can be used to fill scuba tanks or can be stored in high-pressure “banks” for future use upon demand.

Other “partial pressure blending” systems produce nitrox by mixing pure oxygen with air to arrive at the desired nitrox mix. These PPB systems require the storage and handling of pure oxygen, which adds complexity and may carry classification society compliance issues. Blending procedures require calculations be performed prior to the mix, and then verification of the mix after the fact.

By contrast, the Brownie’s NitroxMaker™ system alleviates the burden of carrying and handling pure oxygen on the vessel. Operation is much less complicated and can be mastered with minimal training. And since the correct gas mixture is produced right from the system, there is less possibility of a faulty mix due to operator math errors.

NitroxMaker™ systems are reliable and relatively simple with few components. Brownie’s will design and size systems to match your diving needs. We can upgrade many existing high-pressure compressor systems with only components necessary to create a NitroxMaker™ for your boat.

  • Rotary Screw LP compressor - is precisely matched to the size of the high-pressure compressor. This compressor provides the drive gas that will flow through the NitroxMaker™ cabinet. This compressor can serve double duty by also providing ship’s air for other applications.
  • Advanced Filtration and Refrigerated Dryer remove impurities and moisture to ensure only the highest quality air flows through the system.
  • NitroxMaker™ cabinet - The operator designates the desired nitrox mix, the system does the rest. Clear air is converted into nitrox mixtures from 21% to 40%. Digital oxygen analyzers monitor the produced gas to ensure accuracy. Produced nitrox gas flows directly into the high-pressure compressor intake.
  • High-pressure Compressor - Pumps supplied gas to pressures up to 5000 psi. For maximum versatility, the operator may select either gas produced from NitroxMaker™ or ambient air as the supply gas for the HP compressor.
  • Control/Fill Panel - the traffic cop of the system. This panel controls the flow of gas from the hp compressor to the storage banks or to the fill whips. Precise controls allow for the “cascade filling” of tanks for the most efficient use of gas produced and stored. (See chart on opposite page)
  • Storage Bottles/Banks - high capacity bottles for storing large volumes of gas. Banks can be set up to store a single or multiple gas mixtures simultaneously.

We design storage systems for air, oxygen, nitrox, helium or any other specialized gas needed on your vessel. Valves, regulators, plumbing and rack construction requirements are all taken into consideration at the earliest stages of the process. The result - a system integrated into your vessel.

Storing large volumes of air, nitrox or other gas allows you to fill your scuba or firefighting scba tanks much quicker and more efficiently than filling directly from the compressor. For instance, filling 4 standard scuba tanks on our YP55 system would take approximately 52 minutes. By contrast, filling the same 4 cylinders from a cascade system would take less than 5 minutes - especially important for firefighting considerations.

Controlling the flow of gases through your system is paramount for efficiency and safety. Brownie’s fill panels are designed in a logical format with color-coded flowlines for easy recognition by the operator. Controls are easily manipulated and provide precise adjustments. All fittings, connectors, hardware and tubing are manufactured from the highest quality stainless steel for maximum safety and service life.

We have standard designs suitable for most applications. We can also design and build custom fill panels to meet any specialized need. If you have a gas control requirement, we can create the optimum solution - period.

The Low Pressure KAESER Compressors perform sufficiently to supply the basic demands of the ship’s air system while also producing adequate air volume to the membrane unit with an amazing 24/7/365 duty cycle.

Full PC automated controller system - the KAESER’s main task will be to supply “drive gas” to the NITROX Membrane package. The KAESER is frequently a substantial upgrade to the low-pressure reciprocating piston compressor found in many boats as standard equipment.

The rotary screw design delivers tremendous volumes of air while consuming less energy than comparably sized piston compressors. Additionally, even at full load the Sigma compressor only produces a gentle hum that won’t interrupt a conversation. These compressors can be placed next to a bulkhead or living quarters without fear of disturbing guests or crew.

Triple-housing mechanical filter package is provided to purify air to membrane compatible standards. Cools, drains, cleans and automatically traps condensate all in one package. Custom stainless mounting brace for filter housing on High Temperature Refrigerated Dryer. Includes On/Off switch, Fault Light, and CSA Certification. Filters include 1 micron, .01 micron and vapor absorber. Durable custom stainless steel cabinet compliments the appearance of other components and provides years of virtually maintenance free protection.

Extract oxygen directly from the atmosphere for diving mixes or medical applications with an oxygen generator. Our large oxygen generators provide a cost effective alternative to bottled oxygen or liquid oxygen supplies. Our on-site oxygen generators are the most energy efficient plants on the market. They are designed for applications requiring outputs from 100 to 1000 SCFH (3 to 26 Nm3/hour). Our Large-Industrial line of Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) oxygen generators can deliver a constant flow of up to 95% oxygen at 45-60 psi.
